Mayne Medical School Heritage Adaptive Reuse

Our rehabilitation of the University of Queensland’s historical Mayne Medical School included restoration of historical public spaces, services infrastructure and compliance works.  This project, which included a series of fitouts completed over several stages, represented a $12M investment.

The heritage approach taken in this project was one of restoring original building fabric where it existed, returning the building’s internal spaces to their original volumes and inserting new furniture and services systems sensitively, but honesty, into the restored spaces.  Our role included Architectural, Interior Design and Heritage Architect services.

Subsequent stages included infrastructure upgrades, education and office insertions, and event spaces.
