QLD Artificial Intelligence Hub

arkLAB were successful in securing this unique commission to develop the Queensland AI Hub, the first facility of its kind in Australia. The selected site for this exciting project was within the historic TC Bierne building in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley and contained a rich palette of existing materials to work with including heritage brickwork, large arched windows, exposed ceiling services and timber flooring.

The new fitout is sympathetic to the existing character of the space, with new glazed partitions acting as viewing windows to the AI Tech Incubation Spaces where teams engage and develop new technology. A modular plywood-based furniture system by Bene was selected with assistance from Schiavello. The ‘Pixel’ system featured throughout the space, allows the hub to transform itself to suit changing user requirements, whether that be a new tech display, tech development or to serve as a bar for their opening night!

The built works were carefully put together by Quadric under a tight timeline with great attention to detail. It was a pleasure to work with Quadric, Schiavello & the QLD AI Hub to bring this one together.
